Christchurch’s Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Expo, Sunday Sep 30 -
for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike
We’re looking forward to be part of next Sunday’s Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Expo.
The expo aims to showcase the multi-faceted nature of vegetarianism as well as present vegetarian organisations and vegetarian-owned businesses.
The extensive program includes cookery demonstrations, workshops, films and about 30 exhibitors ranging from organic farms to animal advocacy and environmental organisations. There will be plenty of food (don’t let the announcement of a sausage sizzle on the posters around town mislead you: of course, the sausages will be vegetarian) and tea (well, we’ll have a stand and naturally, there will be lots of our favourite beverage).
Here are some of my personal highlights for the day (for the complete program, visit the Vegetarian Expo website):
- cooking demos: quick & easy Japanese tofu pattie (I’m always open for new ways to make tofu taste yummier) andIndian vegetarian cookery. We’re going to give a demonstration of a gong-fu cha tea ceremony at 11:15!
- workshops: Love pigs not pork and Save Happy Valley
- films: Food without fear (what a great title, especially after listening to Raj Patel last week), Urban elephant and Chew on this
This is but a short overview of the multitude of offerings at the expo. It is an event for the whole family and I bet it’ll be a great day.
