Hi Michael,
thanks for the link, I listened to the show through your link and thought it was quite good. I've just returned from the screening in Sumner and I must say that the film even surpassed the high expectations I had for it.
The discussion following the screening showed that some people weren't fully aware that this is a documentary rather than a "based on a true story" kind of movie (questions like: How many of those interviewed neighbours were actually the real neighbours and how many were actors?). It was THAT well done. I think it succeeded in communicating its message by 1. being done extremely professional (tip to my hat to Taggart Siegel for directing), in a way - say - a Hollywood movie would be made (using all the techniques that have been proven to "work") and 2. by being extraordinarily authentic. Oh yeah, not to forget the perfect soundtrack by one of my favourite instrumental bands - Australia's The Dirty Three!
This movie is much more than a movie about a (very interesting) farmer, it's about following your true calling, falling deep, falling even deeper, but managing to come back with renewed strength. It's a spark of hope and a strong statement for humanity. Go and see it if you get the chance!

Farmer John appeared on National Radio's "Saturday Morning with Kim Hill" today (April 5). He talked in detail about his life and a little about biodynamics and why he made the change to organic farming. You can get the podcast from the National Radio website.
