Back from sourcing tea in China - with some new, exciting discoveries
I’ve just returned from an extended trip overseas during which I spent some time in China to catch up with some of the producers of our teas and to find some new exciting teas and tea makers. Nothing beats sitting down with the maker of a tea and have him prepare his tea for you. This is usually the brew that you try (more or less successfully) to replicate in all following sessions but which often remains the most memorable.
I spent some time in Shanghai where I met with the maker of our organic Bai Hao Yinzhen white tea and organic Xihu Longjing green tea. We spent many hours drinking tea, discussing tea, eating great Chinese food, drinking more tea. Needless to say that I spent many semi-sleepless nights in Shanghai due to a little too much tea.
In future posts, I will write about some of my adventures, like my trip to Mt. Huang Shan (see image at beginning of this post) where I drank some nice Mao Feng green tea or my short adventure in Yixing, where I went to find some pottery treasures. With this post I just wanted to let you all know that I’m back and that Ya-Ya has some very exciting new teas on offer (check out our new price list). I’ll introduce some of the highlights of these new teas shortly.
BTW, I hope we’ll see many of you at the Vegetarian Expo where Ya-Ya will have a stand again this year.
