Cultured gifts
It’s that time of the year again: people fill their shopping carts at the local mall with loads of one-way plastic gifts to live up to social expectations. Giving is such a wonderful thing, but giving on cue at Christmas time has lost most of its charm - at least for me.
Giving and receiving a thoughtful present is special. Give just one gift, not a lot of them. Put intention in choosing this gift, consider the recipient and their likes and dislikes. Make it special.
Since you are reading this, you are interested in tea. With this post, I am trying to give you an inspiration for potential tea-related gifts. This is not intended as a Christmas sales pitch (most of these things are going to be still available after Christmas), but just a bit of a show-and-tell what’s new, worthy or exciting.
I’ve recently added sections on tea inspired art, tea books and tea accessories. And I finally got around putting up a page containing our offerings of pu-erh tea. Have a look at the other exciting teas we have available: be it a strong, smoked Lapsang Souchong, a light and floral Taiwanese oolong or one of our ethereal white teas. And then, there are the ever popular flowering teas, of course. Last but not least, there’s our Tea-of-the-Month Club which helps you to discover new teas and always have an exciting tea at hand.
My personal recommendation to people interested in the spiritual side of tea would probably be Aaron Fisher’s wonderful book The Way of Tea, available in New Zealand only through Ya-Ya.
